I hope my patrons will find my art deeply thoughtful, visually stimulating and find profit and prestige from owning it. My work has been collected by fans from from different parts of the world, including Italian actress Veronica Lazar (Sheltering Sky, 1990), French actress Stephane Audran (Poor Little Rich Girl starring Farah Fawcett, 1987), guitarist Ronnie Wood (of the Rolling Stones, 1989), along with many other collectors.
Owning, living with and looking at my art in your home or office should bring you pleasure, inspire you, transform your environment or just make you happy. I look for supporters who will truly appreciate and understand that I paint from an intuitive place where the invisible is made visible. I hope the viewer will feel things we ignore in everyday life and hear the language of the spirit to reawaken the senses and connect to the universal spirit where we are all connected. My art world and community are unconventional, versatile and quite separate from the dry, logical world. I want to share my vision and encourage feedback from viewers in the hope of stimulating potential collectors who enjoy my esoteric, ethereal style.
If you like my art, if it stirs an emotion, buy it. Put it on you wall and capture that emotion forever.
If you are still reading and want to know more, here it is:
Born in Rabat Morocco, I was influenced at an early age by the “Abstract Expressionism” movement that began in the 40’s. I was struck by the works of Georges Braque, Paul Klee, Wassily Kandinsky and others of that era.
After receiving my baccalaureate in 1967, I couldn't wait to leave Rabat and my unhappy childhood behind. I moved to Tangier, which had been a favorite of writers from Jack Kerouak and Allen Ginsberg to Tennessee Willams and Paul Bowles. And it was fast becoming a center for the arts, following Casablanca and Marrakech.
I studied telecommunications to earn a living, but then left for Paris and Montpelier to study art: abstract art in particular. I frequented museums, art galleries and libraries. I was self-teaching and was fascinated by light, color, shape and form as a way of expressing my spiritual and emotional nature. My years of pent up frustrations and emotions began to erupt onto paper in dark shapes and colors. I painted people, feelings, dreams and my own interpretation of life in a non-representational form.
In 1970, I returned to Morocco and was living in Tangier. By 1971 my art began to evolve, becoming more colorful, sensitive, passionate and joyful, probably reflecting the love I had found in the girl who was to become my wife in 1973.
About that time, my art career began to take off in earnest. I exhibited in galleries and other venues around the country. In 1974, under the patronage of the Minister of Cultural Affairs, I had my first solo exhibition of 13 abstract, contemporary art pieces which sold out. Some of my patrons included the Governor and the Vice Governor of Tangier along with other members of the Legislative Assembly. I later received the "Artiste Prometteur" award (equivalent to the "Up and Coming Artist") in 1977 in Tangier.
I moved to Florida with my family in 1993 where I reside today.
.
I'm inspired by art, life, love, human emotion, light, chi, dreams, subconscious thought, innermost intuition, nature, joy, and universal spirit.
Pouring, rubbing, brush strokes, pallet knifing, adding texture, whatever the moment calls for.
